Every building at the Hermitage was constructed, by the Yogis who live here, to create, and enhance, the ideal environment for Yogic practice and living. All of our buildings follow the essential standards of Yogic living, while still creating the comfort and pleasant atmosphere conducive for western aspirants.
Each building is heated with wood, cooled by opening the windows to fresh mountain air, water is drawn by hand pumps, and we use composting toilets. Yoga is not a practice on the mat, 3 times a week, or even 3 times a day. It is a way of life. Every aspect of living, at Hridaya, reflects the mindset and focus of a Yogi: to find the best, life enhancing, rational way to engage all facets of life. Everyday needs become acts in awareness of and appreciation for life.
Our accommodations are free of wifi and conventional electronics that give off positive ions and emanations that interfere with the natural functioning of the body, our sleep patterns and more. Where can you give your body and mind a total reprieve from those things? Hridaya Hermitage.
